Reply Subj: Why can't Bendis start without a "Man of Steel" series and a re-numbering?

Bendis arrival on the character does NOT warrant this kind of fanfare is duplicating what happened when Byrne came on board in 86.

Hence why they're doing it now. You'll grab the nostalgic Byrniacs and MOS film fans just with the title.

I'm sort of ok w/Bendis trying his hand at Superman. But there is NO NEED to make a separate 6 issue miniseries to "herald" it. I mean, just takes those six issues and make them part of the monthly comic.

Bendis does better when he doesn't have to regard continuity from previous storylines i.e. he wants the freedom to do what he wants.

Also, re-numbering SUPERMAN (again) is a pointless deal. This comic started in 1939 and should be given the respect back of it's original numbering.

Agreed. Superman Vol. 4? 5? Uttterly needless. . .but it will sell. Comic lads can't resist a shiny No. 1.
