Whether or not I agree, I think that's the point: The fight for survival is "living."
I just don't think it's consistent with what Kirkman has been portraying in between the covers.
The characters who spend extended time focused only on the fight for survival are miserable, crazy, and/or broken individuals. Those moments when Rick's crew can look past survival towards some kind of stability or just a brief respite are what make them human again. Those moments are portrayed as necessary, healing moments.
It feels like it runs contrary to the back cover text...
