Now that season 4 of FTWD is complete, just a couple thoughts.
First, the new cast is eons better than the original. Except for Charlie. I think they're trying for a female Carl with her. Heck, even the name is similar! John Dorie gets my vote for best new character.
Second, the writing stinks. The cast deserves far better writing. If this was real life, most or all of these characters would be walker chow within the first episode. So many of the decisions they make are counter intuitive to what someone would do in survival mode. Most of what takes place is predictable.
I'll keep watching simply because I do enjoy the revamped cast and I'll hope that the writing improves exponentially.
First i admit that by continuing to watch I really should't be allowed to complain but I do anyway. Your comment on the scripts is spot on. The actors are fine but the material! The same is true for the main series as well. I am not surprised FTWD decided to drastically switch direction but just changing characters will not change much in the long run. Something about the way Kim Dickens was left behind seems not quite right. I suspect there is some dirty laundry in the situation which will probably be more interesting than the show. Seeing both series using the find a new home for a while only to have it fall due to human failure or greed is got old in my opinion. The whole premise of Fear was lost almost immediately by the initial jump of weeks and now years makes it another version of the parent series. Z-Nation has been my favorite zombie fix for a few years but last nights season premier was NOT promising to say the least.
