    Quote:
Question for anyone who is a Conan-phile: Is any of the backstory tidbits of Conan as a boy old news, (long) established canon to the novels, or any of the comic book companies that's owned his rights over time? Or was that stuff about his father, his life as a kid, Yanna, etc., all newly introduced background color?

In the REH stories it's only mentioned that he was born on a battlefield, and took part in the sack of Venarium when he was 15 years old. And that's it. That's all we get of his youth. Other writers may have added to that later in the series, but whether those stories are 'canon' or not up to the reader.

The first time we get to 'meet' his parents is in the 1982 Schwarzenegger film.
