> I forgot what you explained to me about Onslaught a while ago.
Someone working on that last Onslaught series clearly had fond memories of the fights in Onslaught: X-Men and Hulk #445, to revisit the "well, we destroyed Onslaught....oh no, he just made us think we did" moment again. It's a trick that never gets old.
Onslaught using Xavier's corpse as his host-body would be a truly twisted direction to take things in, though. Maybe they should go there.
> Actually, I'm OK with Xavier being gone. like everyone has said, it didn't come as a surprise (and never, ever read the New York Daily News the night before a big reveal--they "spoiled" it for me Tuesday evening) although I think Marvel should have sent him off to the school, retired from active duty, rather than kill him off.
As things go, I'd rather he was "dead" until someone wants to use him again, than we keep going through the current generation of writers leaving him on the sidelines because they truly believe he's obsolete and irrelevant and can't think of what to do with him.
Weirdly, the scans I saw online made it look less like "burned to death by the fiery Phoenix" and more "like a tortoise flipped onto his back and unable to get up".
> I just hope this is the end of this Phoenix thing--unless it involves Jean coming back, of course!
That's a thing they've teased so often I won't believe it until I see it, and again, the current generation of writers and editors don't appear to have any enthusiasm for doing so. And I can't be the only one who wants her back, but not as Phoenix. I really, really, really never want to see the Phoenix again, or see anyone as it's host. That said, Dark Phoenix Cyclops? That actually looks pretty rad, especially compared with his previous look. Make us a figure of that, Hasbro.
