...or more appropriately:
"All-New X-Men 025: What If"...
What If: Sequential continuity and cover charge didn't matter?
This would have felt better received if this was in free digital comic format or maybe as backup story to a significant serial lead. As is, it was more an indulgent artists' showcase. They draw a very good mix of arbitrary What If worlds and combination of Prev Pages from other X-books. Having said that, kudos for the whole mystery listener schtick that successfully surprised me. Also, who's not going to like Beast beating himself up over this whole time trapped debacle[read: series theme] dumped on the Originals. And yet none of Beast's regret felt original and his future realities hardly seemed influentially real. (Although the Kitty-Piotr-verse was quite comical.)
This storyline seems to offputtingly discount all of Beast's participation with the Illuminati[read: So-called Reality Experts and/or Janitors] over in New Avengers. Not to mention the chronologically already seen death of a certain man in the moon. The only real significance taken from this issue is the question, What if 'the listener' is not who he appeared to be? (The real one would not insult someone by saying 'You disgust me'!)

This is Bendis, right? I like Bendis, I am by no means a Bendis-Basher, but he sometimes has characters say things they probably wouldn't. Remember that page from Mighty Avengers where Doom said some gross stuff to Ms. Marvel?
