I loved Mike Carey's run on the books so much, and I was extremely looking forward to this, but...
Quote:Really did not care for this story but the art was decent.
Quote:Problematic timeline continuity (on too many levels).
Eh. Not too much, and ultimately, not necessary.
Quote:Seriously disagreeable major player characterization - especially Beast, Scott, and Logan.
I'm going to disagree, here. Characterization was better than it's been in a long time. Everybody was actually being human! Scott was showing he actually gave a damn. Beast was too, albeit in a different way. Logan too.
Quote:Raven randomness regurgitation.
She's the best there is at what she does. Gosh, help me for the Disney pun, but this was SO Raven. She was delightfully herself. It was, however, stupid for her to think the X-Men retreat was long-term. She should know the X-Men better by now.
Now, to get Raven Symone/Mystique cosplay images out of my head...
Quote:Poorly contrived crisis parameters.
*sigh* Agreed. We could have really gotten a story with human impact. And we really didn't need this story at the same time we're getting the "Planet X" story over in that other title.
Quote:Selective detail attention to all the powers available. Unclarity of how many humans the X-men actually end up technically killing upon rematerialization.
Well, that's understandable. There's no real, believable way to know that. "A few million" is as good an estimate as anything.
Quote:Rushed and forced Phoenix fix.
*sigh* Agreed. Did we really need another Phoenix story? And in this case, it was like one plot device too many. We already had Sale's machine. We really didn't need the Phoenix and another alt-Earth Jean (though at least she's back where she belongs).
Quote:Crazy Triage power because it is BOUND TO BE mishandled by writers now
I dunno. His power isn't as crazy as it could be. It's not like Elixir's.
Quote:- not to mention the odd story-organic choice of Sale as the ultimate "hero".
I didn't mind this. It's good to see flatscans and mutants working together.
City of Heroes is BACK!
