Uncanny X-Men 021

Aaand another annoying premature cover image. This scene has no bearing on the story. Can anyone guess who Hank knows that that is by the body clues? More evidence inside the book also suggests maybe he is to blame for the selective futzing haywire powers and maybe not the Phoenix Force.

Aaand already Magneto's badass, 'man with a mission', NOW attitude is (predictably) compromised and all the creative direction is sidetracked so he can sympathize with someone bringing harm to mutants -not to mention being 'caught in the act' with Dazzler right there- just becasue Erik has a past association with said guilty party. That's not to say the original panel flashback wasn't creative fun way to show it. And to be fair, it would be easy to argue that Magneto really does have an empathy for Blob which is done very well in this whole scene.

Aaand once again the SHIELD/X-men relations remain inconsistent and contrary. Usually offputtingly portrayed between MU titles but just as much internally this time. Sure, it's nice that Hill is given a deep down heart of gold to make a 1hr delay judgement call but to be fair to all the citizens of Westchester and beyond - WHY?! That's SHIELD's hands on job to arrest fugitives and avert disaster - not to mention all the bad blood portrayed in spite of harmony hogwash of A+X. At least she should insist someone monitor Beast's investigation.

Aaand it was another chapter of nice art. Well, except for Anole the flesh color SNAFU on Anole's hand and the inevitable Beast nitpick - this time it's his static-frizz look. The SHIELD strike on the mansion was a dramatic visual sequence especially if you imagine some grand movie music playing alongside it.

Aaand speaking of guesses, besides the villains ID(maybe it's Red Skull?): Who do you think will be the character to expose Mystique's commenable ruse? And who is in 'Wonder Womans Invisible Jet'?

I miss Dad and Dan.

Or is this taking place in the current day (Current 616, I mean.)? From my understanding, it involves the original 5 X-Men, but Jean is dead still, or is she back to life?

What's going on with Dazzler? Hasn't Lady Mastermind been in this? Why so much of Maria Hill? Is Mystique still a bad guy? I kind of want to get this series (Even though I'm not a huge fan of Bachalo's art.), but I don't really care much for past/present/future universes.
