Quote:She's always been considered the first X-Men. You age her, and you age the franchise considerably. I think that's why they've been aging her and reducing her age and everything.
I think you may be underestimating the importance of Giant-Size and the fateful year of 1975.
Jean is the age of the 1963 team. Ororo is the age of the 1975 team. It's Ororo who must never age.
Colossus and Nightcrawler are also the age of the 1975 team. They can't age either.
Yes, Jean is the age of the 1963 team. That's the problem. When she starts having children or settling down or all that sort of stuff, she ages all of them, moreso than the giant sized because the giant sized have the built in "They've all died and come back through the siege perilious" schtick.
Also, it's Jean Grey settling down that causes the Days of Future's past. Rachel is the result of Jean Grey settling down, and Rachel leads to hounds and Sentinels and Days of Future's Past. That's why she can't age. The more she ages, the more we get closer to the end of the world.
