Quote:He had reasons for Cyclops and Nathan. He doesn't just go after kids, and to my knowledge, he has never done anything to any other kids. This sounds like a real step down.
There are always reasons, and they're not specific to Scott and Nathan. Those are just his special kids.
um...I agree with a little of what both of you are saying.
That orphanage really was just to manipulate Scott. Those other kids were just there to an extent (if he experimented on them it wasn't because they had any intrinsic value to his agenda). So much so that he never even had a use for Alex there and arranged for him to be adopted.
Nathan has no problem torturing or experimenting on children. But his interest usually revolves around Scott, Jean or their children. He's certainly not above harming children though. The children he's interested in are just part of Scott and Jean's families. But I'm sure he would be happy to kill a bunch of children if he thought of a good reason to do so. The idea of him having a moral code is laughable.
Quote:Then explain the orphanage? The orphanage had been established years, perhaps decades, before Scott. He took all of those kids to be part of his experiments.
Yeah but I think he knew even back then he was waiting for a specific mutant to come along from the Summers family. The later Amanda Mueller/Black Womb retcon for example...Essex was conspiring with Scott's great great grandmother for her babies.
Quote:Not just that, but we've seen his laboratories full of imprisoned children before.
I agree he has no compunction killing, torturing or experimenting on children. But usually he does have a Summers related agenda. I guess maybe he decides to experiment and torture for non Summers related reasons when he wants a distraction from work.
Quote:And heck, even back in Victorian England he wasn't above capturing kids.
