Cannonball was supposed to be the Connor/Duncan.

Ah. OK. For some reason this particular story has him out of the equation.

Back in the 90s, Cable proclaimed him to be one, then Selene came along as said he wasn't.

There was also no contest or grand prize as there was in Highlander.

There is now. Gideon is taking the powers of the ones who die. The Prize is getting all of the powers. Exactly like Highlander. The Externals weren't always a Highlander rehash, apparently. But they are now.

This piece really doesn't make much sense. Selene never gained any of their powers when she killed them back in the day. The other Externals were never interested in killing each other. They barely associated until a new one came along every so often, and they would test fitness of the newbie.

City of Heroes is BACK!
