Quote:Ridiculous. Real Jean loves Real Scott so much she kills him?! That's what the story is telling us. C'MON! It's wrong, right?
So, someone shouldn't rest in peace? Plus, it was just an attempt for Phoenix to tempt her into staying in the fake reality.
Quote:OML does a good job of waking her up but a bad job of proving he was the better choice than Young Scott.
Tyke would have been incapable of waking her, imo.
Quote:The red costume intro splash looks COOL but what is the mood/personality/real logic behind it?
Quote:The rest of the team is just senseless cameo fodder probably to rush the title relaunches along without "Phoenix Return" exposition. It also makes their part on the cover symbolism kind of a joke.
Quote:Jean's talk with the Phoenix is easy to either praise or pander. Hmm... maybe readers should've read the Jean Grey conclusion first but sadly the Recap Page didn't warn us. She's all preachy about being heroic - right after killing her soul mate instead of sacrificing her own soul or finding a third alternative.
My biggest complaint is that The Phoenix shouldn't be acting this way. None of this was ever the motivation of the Phoenix. Further, the message of Morrison's Phoenix story was that Jean had corrupted the Phoenix by her sentimental attachments. So now the Phoenix thinks sentimental attachments are good? BAH! All of this was just silliness to sell us a bunch of books where nothing happened.
And there's really no reason for her returning. She keeps saying they're better off dead. Well, okay... go kill yourself again.
*sigh* But no, I'm glad she's back. It just sucks we had to go through the worst, most boring Phoenix story ever told.
I'm not overly pressed. Unless it was an error, when they first started hyping X-Men Red, it's supposed to be Jean with the full Phoenix powerset, so eh. I guess we get a few years of either just Jean Grey or Jean Grey as Rachel Summers/Phoenix-Lite circa Excalibur. Overall, this was not a 5-part story. We couldhave trimmed this to be a Giant-Sized Special. The meat of the story was an interesting take, tho. I just wish there was more cohesion thru the years to really tie it into a better solid picture. So....when do I get my Jean/Rachel meet-up moment?
