Ridiculous. Real Jean loves Real Scott so much she kills him?! That's what the story is telling us. C'MON! It's wrong, right?

So, someone shouldn't rest in peace? Plus, it was just an attempt for Phoenix to tempt her into staying in the fake reality.

Any hero definitely deserves to rest in peace. So, you're saying you took Scott to be an illusion all along? Phoenix might (must?) have the power to waylay other dead spirits to her White Room afterlife - the way Jean talked, that he was real, it seemed possible that maybe she could have yoinked his soul from Death's realm for specifically unique reasons (after my 1st readthru) related to their soulmate love. And real or not, Jean's quick call to suck Cyke's energy dry seemed... a cold cruel contrast to her earlier revulsion at OML gutting Annie - and the scene just rubbed me the wrong way - and she did it with the X-men as audience. The whole team went to the realm to do something, like fight for her in some surreal way, but do nothing - not even question Jean's deadly course of action.

No, it was probably really him, just being used as a puppet for Jean's benefit, like all of the other poor souls in the fake reality were. As Jean was saying, "We're better off dead." Better off at peace.

You'll also note from last issue that whenever Jean wasn't looking in that fake reality, it turned to a fiery apocalypse. It was an illusion for Jean's benefit, but with real repercussions for the others. When Tag/Brian Cruz is delivering newspapers, Jean sees a nice suburbia paradise, but when he passes her, he bursts into flames. The way I see it is all of these souls are being tortured, except when it makes Jean feel good.

City of Heroes is BACK!
