My guess is that Cable is trying to reset the O5 to their original setting, so he can then send them back to their proper time and thus restore the time line.

In order to accomplish this with Warren, since he now has those black vortex wings, he's going to cut off Calvin's wings and attach them to Warren. That's why we see Cable cutting off the black vortex wings.
