Still seems like a "three steps back/two steps forward" thing to me. I don't think she really needed this epiphany. Prior to Thompson, there were few female characters as self-aware as Rogue was.

I haven't been reading M&MX (since "Rogue & Gambit" I've been on a Kelly Thompson moratorium), but from what I read here and elsewhere, it does seem to me that Thompson is "solving" problems that wouldn't exist if not for her. As I've pointed out before, Rogue clearly regained control over her absorption power in the final issues of Uncanny Avengers (there really was no other way once Wonder Man's personality was removed from hers), so Rogue continuing to be unable to control her power in R&G was just to suit Thompson's agenda. As was Rogue reverting to her timid, lacking-in-self-confidence 1990s persona in that mini-series and apparently since. And given how R&G already was such a flashback fest, I'm beginning to wonder if Kelly Thompson has the intention of ever doing anything with the carte blanche Marvel seems to have given her with respect to Rogue and Gambit besides having them engage in retrospective navel-gazing and angst about her power and their relationship...

    Last name? HA! Riiight. \:\)
