Domino - Hotshots 002
Whew. The deficient premiere had me worried BUT Neena turned things around for the better.
As offputting as Deadpool's human pincushion shtick can be when unconvincingly presented and when he is jobbing against Handbook characters, Dom talking him into standing down was a poignant, believable scene. "YET ANOTHER" Celestial crisis on Earth can be a deal breaking adventure when it feels like "JUST ANOTHER" mish mash more than the rare, fantastical numbered Host Events they used to be. However Dom does a decent job prioritizing what this team could do and should do in the face of Space Gods and the artifact everyone is after. The fact that her friend (and charming character) Outlaw is tech-infected, properly invests her (and reader) into getting thru this crisis as best as she can. Dom also does a respectable job managing the 3 new independant, untempered, alpha-females that have joined her posse. Who knew getting Black Widow, Silver Fox, and Atlas Bear to simply raise their hands would make for a satisfying scene like that.
Enter: Tony Stark. Tony Stark?! WTH?! Dom's first impressions of Stark's questionable motives and methods seem spot on. Even Nat surprisingly was bad mouthing The Avengers and puts her faith in Neena here; so, that's more props for Dom. Not sure if the government hired Stark Unlimited (before or after eScape debacle) or The North Pole Avengers (who oddly are at odds with the USA). Three new automated Starktech shellhead scavengers are introduced. These FALSIES bots seem like a penny ante deterrent to stop the Hotshots but they put in a better showing than DP. This forces Diamondback blowing up everything and everyone falling out of the sky. Uh oh.
Curious to see where this all goes - and who goes splat. Probably just the "Falsies", eh. Do you anticipate an inspired escape from this death drop? Will DP take down this story, since it looks like he's stickin' around? Will the hand raisers stay all stay loyal to Domino? How 'bout a prediction for the mini series fate of tragically tech-infected Temple?

I still don't like this Celestials stuff. But Gail Simone entertains, regardless.
I ignore Aaron's Avengers, so I don't really care about the Avengers status or how this seems to conflict.
