X-23 011 (2019)

Some strong personality moments, and one good Gabby line but not near exciting or interesting as the previous volume/conflicts was. Laura is more stolid than ever which is spot on but also kind of boring. It was also VERY PEEVING that her narration was intentionally and specifically structured as a hypothetical letter; hmmph, nobody thinks in that formula way for TWO DAYS(?) elaspse time that was 20 pages, do they? Sniffing the air for a presumed danger and ongoing lack of supporting characters didn't cut it, either.

Plus, there's still the recycled nitpicks that reclaiming X-23 as her codename was not made convincing and the Recap Page proudly identifies her every issue as 'cloned from Wolverine' after the storyline revealing she is no longer a clone in the MU sense of the word. Her repeatedly changing mission statements are happening too fast and her unclear chronological placement in the X-Universe sequence of events is flabbergasting. If not for continually enjoying how Gabby plays the Robin to Laura's Batman, giving up on this volume has is a looming option after a #12/1yr probation.

Unenthusiastic thumbs up for:
-nice cover
-believable sister bonding/fighting
-Only one good Gabby line this time: "READY?" "OBVIOUSLY." but plenty of that fun Gabby 'tude
-Alchemax developments (but slow and no Liz Allan x-over stuff). Hmm... will VAXX neutralize the mutant x-factor in clones? Hmm... will VAXX x-over stuff even get acknowledged in this book?
-trope fight choreography looking so lethal with flash and snikts BUT MISLEADINGLY (to untrained readers) to be the furthest thing from it
-Gabby strength showing as she deadlifts a huge desk and throws it threw tempered glass *huh*
-Jonathon cameo
-average running away soap opera
-too minimalistic feather clue and feather (clone?)being silouette to try n' tease readers to come back in 30

Is this arc psyching YOU up?

Okay, just read the solicit at this Preview Link and don't even recall "HARVEST" mentioned - off to reread... ooh! The passing name of the subsidiary - seems like a waste of a potential cool codename.

Support Cancer Research and Alzheimer Research.

That cover seems so perfect to me for this, and I don't mean this in a good way. That's probably one of the most boring covers I've ever seen. As is this arc, and pretty much this whole volume. I'm a hair away from dropping this.

Yeah, Gabby should not be that strong. That gets a huge thumbs down from me.
