Quote: The REAL Illyana died in Uncanny X-Men #300. She is STILL dead.
Quote: After that, Belasco created a fake Illyana, because he lovesneeds his little Darkchilde, and that is who we have now. This was seen in New X-Men vol 2 #38-41. This fake Illyana had all of the memories of the original teenager, but not the soul. Even the screwy Belasco realized that without a soul, she was useless to him (can't summon his Elder Gods! WAH!). So, he threw her away (banished her).
Quote: She eventually got her soul back in New Mutants vol 3.
Thanks, but I'm a little confused on one part: If she got the original Illyana's soul, doesn't that mean she came back to life?

It's... wonky. The real Illyana is still dead. She died with part of her soul. The fake Illyana has the other part. Remember the Beatrix Medallion with the bloodstones? Her soul was in 5 fragments.
Frankly, Marvel never did get Illyana's post-Inferno story correctly. They chose to think the young Illyana that died was the same one, but by the story, she was not. Illyana was not simply deaged. Rahne picked an alternate Illyana from Limbo that had never become the Darkchylde and replaced the teenaged one. But I get it... it sometimes gives me headaches too.
