Frankly, Marvel never did get Illyana's post-Inferno story correctly. They chose to think the young Illyana that died was the same one, but by the story, she was not. Illyana was not simply deaged. Rahne picked an alternate Illyana from Limbo that had never become the Darkchylde and replaced the teenaged one. But I get it... it sometimes gives me headaches too.

I'd always thought that the reasons why illyana could, and always would, cheat death, were there to be found in just this fact - that her very origins and ties to timeless Limbo mean she is not bound by the laws of time as we understand them.
As the ruler of Limbo she is supernatural, and outside of time. So in a way she is in line with Immortus. You can see her 'die' in one incarnation, but another will take her place.

God knows how many time the Reverse-Flash has been 'killed' over at DC, each time seems final, but then due to his nature as a time-traveller and whatnot he just ressurects and comes back in a reincarnated form.

At this point he is unkillable. And in principle I see Illyana as having the same 'out' that he, or Immortus, have.
